Alistair Danhieux is of British origin and he left his native country at the age of 18 to embark on a long trip, particularly to India and West Africa. His trip then led him to Puisaye, where he discovered ceramics. He decided to spend a year and a half training at the CNIFOP (International Arts and Ceramics Training Centre) in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye where he later settled his workshop with his partner. His work now focuses on unique stoneware and porcelain pieces hand painted with pure lines and graphic and black linear decorations.

With a paintbrush, Alistair Danhieux applies his decorations, conjuring up multiple worlds, from traditional tattoos to Indian mandalas. He first draws his black serial patterns on paper and then applies them on the turned piece. They then seem to gradually detach from the spotless white background on which they are fixed and come alive. The line proliferates on the material and makes up hypnotic and almost organic shapes. The piece, saturated with patterns, suddenly seems to come to life, taken over by movements and beats. The artist multiplies contrasts, between black and white and between materials.
