Mona Luison


Like a book, every creation tells a story: our own story or those of others. Like freeze frames, these sculptures symbolically represent the human condition.

Mona Luison’s works are made with a huge variety of objects found in our everyday environment: soft toys, old clothes, coffee capsules, water bottles, jam jars, etc., which she cuts, weaves, stitches, embroiders, and so on. A steady stream of assorted materials gathered together to represent the world as it is. Like skins bursting with meaning, inundated and infused with symbols.

Her sculptures connect our anatomy with natural disasters, war, important dates in history. “With all the information that bombards us, with no way of knowing if it’s true or relevant. She gives us an escape route, a means of escaping by looking at the world again through a child’s eyes.” Louis Doucet
