Ateliers d'Art de France

Desislava Stoilova

Glass, a material that is never permanent, but unruly and delicate, is my passion and the means through which I express myself artistically. I think about glass as a field of research. I like to experiment and explore the possibilities of the material.

My latest creations are composed of several opaque pâte de verre sheets. I use the sand mould technique to create them. Each piece requires at least a month of work.

These are pictures and sculptures based on my observation of the world around me. A certain geometry, a particular order and the surface of things keep my attention as I walk and in everyday life. I live in farming country. I am surrounded by old farms and ruined buildings. This environment inspires me.

It is a refined work on materials, shapes and colours. I look for the essential, I like to describe the passage of time through the material.
